I gave blood today, for the second time since being told back in college to please stop trying because of that unfortunate passing out thing. I remained conscious again! Go me! I'm still not very good about it though. Poor bloodbank workers. This time I got nervous giggles. They had a little trouble, and there were adjustments, and it took forever, and I started humming "I wanna be an airforce ranger" under my breath and couldn't stop. They probably don't get paid enough to put up with the crazy people, but they were very nice to me anyway.
Have any of you reupholstered furniture? I really need to stop watching HGTV and convincing myself that I could totally do these things.

I have reupholstered a chair once- it turned out...um not too bad. But not great either. I also helped with some dining room chair pads-those turned out great. (but were way easier). The trick is to pay attention to how the old fabric is attached when you take it off. I think I have a book on it, but I think Bullinger has it. Can't remember for sure though.
I'm a lot of help huh?
Did you get a cookie?
I have reupholstered, but pretty much to the same degree that AKJ has -- and I agree that one needs to pay very careful attention to how the fabric comes off (which, hey, digital cameras).
I still don't give blood. At my last physical the guy managed to not have to use both arms to get those two little vials, and I refuse to inflict that angst on the bloodbank people.
Glad to hear you gave blood. I still have my gallon pin. Sadly, can't give anymore. They laugh at me when I tell them which countries I've been to.
Good luck with any reupholstering! That's something that, I think, looks so easy so it must be really hard and would result in terrible looking pieces should I ever try to attempt it.
Thanks for the upholstering advice!
They gave me a choice between snackwells yellow cream cookies and fig newtons. But the apple-cranberry juice was nice.
A gallon! That's a lot. And yes, exactly. I watch the Trading Spaces people reupholster stuff and I'm like, "Oh I could so totally do that!" And then I bought the fabric and looked at the furniture and thought, "eep?"
I'll bring my big-old stapler down with the measuring stuff and we can give it a try if you like. That way, if it's half-assed, you can blame me.
I have not, but my mom has. I think I could do it, but I still have a really cool wing back chair that needs it, so you can see how thats gone.
Yay on the blood thing. I've had terminally low blood pressure my entire life, so its hard for me to give. They actually have turned me away. I also have veins that pretend to be there, but really aren't there. I have one spot they can get blood from when I need to give it up for tests. After that, super bruises are so pretty...
