Honeycrisp

They grow on trees!

...I'm just sayin'. And look, dwarf! Easier picking, less space required. I may put one of these in if my Zone 5 trees inexplicably fail in my Zone 4 front yard. ;-)

Really? Apples grow on trees? Who knew.
I wonder what kind of value a fruit tree has for a property. Especially a Honeycrisp. Granted, it won't produce fruit right away, but it would be a fun thing to tend with the Sprout.

We're totally planning on putting in a few fruit trees next spring... that sounds like a good contender!

I recommend against it. Unless you are going to use them for a lot of baking. We had mini delicious(gold and red), harrilson and I forget what other ones at home in our yard. Unless you prune and spray and all that junk you get a whole bunch of deformed, spotted, sometimes buggy apples. Which are still good for baking, but no so much in the pick em up and eat em category.

I agree, we had apples in my parents yard growing up, and its a challenge to keep them bug free. However, they have a lot of neat organic methods now that aren't so bad. I can even find the info if you're interested.

I needed to add, that thanks to all this, we're making the most of family visits and going to an orchard... that has a pumpkin patch. Sprout in the pumpkin patch, hee!
